CONNECTICUT FCRV SECURES WILDLIFE GRANT
Connecticut FCRV received a National Wildlife Grant for the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield. The grant will help buy bird seed for the birds they cannot release back into the wild, and the thousands of birds that visit the center during the winter. White Memorial is a great place to observe birds, with sheltered viewing stations available for birdwatchers and photographers, along with feeders to attract a variety of birds in all seasons.
Connecticut FCRV has been involved with The White Memorial Foundation and Conservation Center for several years, holding our state Conservation campouts at their campground.
NUTMEG DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD 2016
At Fall Rally in September, Barbara Crombie was named recipient of the 2016 Nutmeg Distinguished Service Award, honoring her service to Connecticut FCRV. Barbara is a long-time member of the Cardinals chapter, serving for many years as chapter president.
Barbara has served as chairman of the Connecticut FCRV Education Grant Committee since its inception. She is responsible for administering the program, receiving grant applications and even chasing down members who may be unaware that they might be eligible for a grant! Her integrity and commitment to the Education Grant program has certainly played a major role in its success.
Barbara is fixture at our meetings, where we always look forward to her reports. Yes Barbara, you do need to use the microphone! Congratulations to Barbara Crombie; you truly embody the FCRV motto “Where Strangers Become Friends, and Friends Become Family.”
